Zdenek Bakala and his coal mining company New World Resources didn’t have any luck entering the Polish coal market, but the Czech tycoon isn’t letting that slow the expansion of his empire.

Mr Bakala is now reportedly looking toward Ukraine, but that’s not to say there won’t be Polish more chapters in this saga. Parkiet reports a holding controlled by Mr Bakala is now studying the activity of Sadovaya Group, a Ukrainian concern getting ready to make a debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

On Thursday, NWR officials had no comment about any possible interest in Sadovaya, but confirmed the company is actively looking to expand in Ukraine.
